🥌 Il curling internazionale conquista Varese: successo per il 1° Torneo A8 MI-VA

VARESE, 10-11 MAGGIO 2025 — L’Acinque Ice Arena si è trasformata nel cuore pulsante del curling internazionale ospitando il 1° Torneo Internazionale A8 MI-VA, una due giorni di sport e spettacolo sul ghiaccio che ha visto sfidarsi 24 squadre provenienti da Italia, Svizzera, Germania, Catalogna e Stati Uniti.

🚗 Un torneo per celebrare una storica connessione

Il nome del torneo non è casuale: "A8 MI-VA" è un tributo al centenario dell’autostrada A8 Milano-Varese, la prima autostrada al mondo, simbolo di collegamento e sviluppo tra due città chiave della Lombardia. Così come l’A8 ha unito territori, il torneo ha unito atleti e tifosi nel nome del curling, celebrando lo spirito sportivo e l’amicizia internazionale.

Una grande collaborazione: Milano e Varese sul ghiaccio

Organizzato congiuntamente dal Milano Jass Curling Club e dall’HC Varese Curling, il torneo ha rappresentato un momento importante per la promozione di questo sport in Italia, valorizzando al contempo l’eccellenza della struttura ospitante, l’Acinque Ice Arena di Varese.

Le squadre di casa: HC Varese Curling in evidenza

Tre le formazioni dell’HC Varese Curling che hanno preso parte alla competizione, difendendo i colori locali: HC 21100, L.S.Di Varese e Ice Breackers, squadra composta dai giovanissimi del Varese Curling.

Le squadre hanno ben figurato nel torneo, affrontando avversari di alto livello in un contesto tecnico e spettacolare. La presenza del club di casa ha aggiunto energia e coinvolgimento al pubblico locale, che ha potuto sostenere i propri beniamini direttamente dagli spalti.

Pubblico e atmosfera: un successo su tutti i fronti

Con oltre 100 atleti in gara l’evento è stato un successo anche in termini di partecipazione. Le iscrizioni chiuse con largo anticipo dimostrano l’interesse crescente verso il curling e la qualità organizzativa dell’evento.

L’atmosfera è stata quella delle grandi occasioni: spirito sportivo, fair play, entusiasmo e voglia di condividere una passione comune hanno reso il torneo un’esperienza indimenticabile per tutti i presenti.

Il 1° Torneo Internazionale A8 MI-VA ha gettato le basi per una nuova tradizione sportiva a Varese, e tutto lascia presagire che questo sarà solo il primo di molti appuntamenti futuri all’insegna del grande curling internazionale.

• 🥇 1° posto: Cinque Giganti

  Con 4 vittorie su 4, 8 punti conquistati e 28 stones realizzate in 15 ends, la squadra di Berna (Svizzera) si è imposta con autorità, dimostrando solidità tecnica e freddezza nei momenti chiave.

  
  

• 🥈 2° posto: CC Ascona – Team Kikarolas

  Un ottimo torneo anche per gli svizzeri di Ascona, che chiudono a pari punti con altre cinque squadre ma si piazzano secondi per numero di ends vinti (16) e numero di stones (26).

  
  

• 🥉 3° posto: Eintracht Frankfurt 2

🟡 Le squadre di casa

Nonostante l’ultima trionfante vittoria dei varesini HC 21100 nell’ultimo match contro i CC Ascona Rat on the road che li ha portati a 6 punti, 15 ends e 21 stones, la squadra di casa si posiziona ai piedi del podio. Un prestigioso 4° posto conquistato all’ultimo sasso.

Le ragazze del team L.S.Di Varese dopo l’ultima sfida si posizionano al 10° posto, con 4 punti, 14 ends e 23 stones. La squadra dei giovani Ice Breackers HCV conquista 2 immemorabili pareggi e con 2 punti, 9 ends e 14 stones si posiziona al 21° posto.

Il premio ‘Spirit of Curling’, consegnato alla squadra che più incarna i valori e lo spirito di questo sport, votato da tutti i team partecipanti, è stato assegnato al team di casa Ice Breackers HCV, che nonostante la giovane età, si è sempre messo in gioco con entusiasmo e passione, dimostrando che nello sport non sono solo le vittorie a dare soddisfazioni, ma soprattutto la voglia di condivisione e divertimento.

🥌 International Curling Takes Over Varese: Success for the 1st A8 MI-VA Tournament

VARESE, MAY 10–11, 2025 — The Acinque Ice Arena became the beating heart of international curling as it hosted the 1st A8 MI-VA International Tournament, a two-day celebration of sport and spectacle on the ice. The event featured 24 teams from Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Catalonia, and the United States.

🚗 A Tournament Celebrating a Historic Connection

The tournament’s name, “A8 MI-VA,” pays tribute to the 100th anniversary of the A8 Milano–Varese motorway—the world’s first highway and a symbol of connection and progress between two key Lombardy cities. Just as the A8 has linked territories, the tournament united athletes and fans in the name of curling, celebrating sportsmanship and international friendship.

A Major Collaboration: Milan and Varese on the Ice

Jointly organized by the Milano Jass Curling Club and HC Varese Curling, the tournament marked a key moment in the promotion of curling in Italy, while also showcasing the excellence of the host venue, Varese’s Acinque Ice Arena.

Home Teams Shine: HC Varese Curling in the Spotlight

Three teams from HC Varese Curling took part in the competition, proudly representing the local colors: HC 21100, L.S.Di Varese, and Ice Breackers, a youth team from the Varese Curling Club. The home teams performed well against strong international competition, bringing excitement to local spectators who cheered them on from the stands.

With over 100 athletes competing, the event was also a triumph in terms of participation. The early closure of registrations is a testament to the growing interest in curling and the high level of organization. Despite a triumphant last-match win over CC Ascona's Rat on the Road, which brought them to 6 points, 15 ends, and 21 stones, HC 21100 finished just shy of the podium in 4th place. The women's team L.S.Di Varese ended in 10th place with 4 points, 14 ends, and 23 stones after their final game. The youth team Ice Breackers HCV earned 2 memorable draws and closed in 21st place with 2 points, 9 ends, and 14 stones.

The ‘Spirit of Curling’ Award, given to the team best embodying the values and spirit of the sport, was awarded to Ice Breackers HCV. Despite their young age, they competed with passion and enthusiasm, showing that in sport, it’s not just victories that matter, but also the joy of sharing and having fun.
